ABBA – The Album [1977]
ABBA The Album Track List
ABBA's album "The Album" was released on December 12, 1977 in Scandinavia via the Polar Music label, along with the movie "The Movie", dedicated to the band's tour of Australia. The album includes three compositions from the small musical “Girl with Golden Hair” performed by musicians at 1977 concerts in Europe and Australia. The fourth song “Get on the Carousel”, written for the musical, was reworked into the track “Hole in Your Soul”. Fragments of this composition were included in The Movie. The 25-minute opus reflected the story of a talented girl who leaves her hometown in search of fame. Each song illustrates different aspects of its character. In the United Kingdom, the album debuted from the first line and remained at the top of the charts for seven weeks. Thanks to the large-scale promotional campaign conducted by the group in 1978 in the USA, this album became the group's most successful release in terms of its position in the American charts. “The Album” was first released on CD in 1984 and reprinted four more times, and on November 3, 2017, a double vinyl record was released at Abbey Road Studios.
