The Bitter Truth is the fifth studio album by American rock band Evanescence was released on March 26, 2021 via BMG Rights Management. This is the first LP with original music from Evanescence in the past decade since the release of their third self-titled album. For a greater variety of music, the group planned to collaborate with several producers at once. However, due to the pandemic, only Nick Raskulinecz could become one. On April 17, 2020, the cover was announced on social networks, the photo for which was taken by Amy Lee's husband. It depicts the face of the vocalist with an open mouth and protruding tongue, on which lies a pill in the form of a face crumpled in pain. Simultaneously, the first single, Wasted On You, premiered, featuring guest vocalists from Within Temptation, The Pretty Reckless and Halestorm, and the title of the album was announced. The later released singles The Game Is Over, Use My Voice and Yeah Right received flattering reviews from the eminent tabloids. The Bitter Truth is an epic guitar piece inspired by the bitter realities of the 21st century and our world, sounded like a ferocious anthem thanks to Amy Lee's dramatic and powerful vocals.
