Flux is the fourth studio album by American singer-songwriter Poppy, released on September 24, 2021 via Sumerian Records. In recent years, we've seen Poppy transition from pop to heavy metal camp and receive a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance, making her the first solo artist to be nominated in this category ever. On June 30, 2021, the singer released her first single titled Her, performed in a grunge style. And a month later, she presented to the public the eponymous single Flux with a surreal pastel video, this time focusing on straightforward, memorable and infectious guitar rock. She herself filmed a deceptively sinister video that explores a candy-covered world created by Australian artist Pip & Pop. Her new sound shows that she is shifting the emphasis from a metallic approach in favor of neat alternative rock, but it is still classic Poppy. Flux was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen, with whom the singer and her band recorded live on analog tape.
