Folklore is the eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. Unexpectedly for everyone, it was released during quarantine on July 24, 2020 via Republic Records, just eleven months after the previous album Lover (2019). On top of that, there was no real tour between the two – this is an unprecedented case in Taylor Swift's career. Unlike the pop sound of the singer's previous albums, Folklore is indie folk, alternative rock and electro folk, dominated by guitars and pianos. According to the record company, her new album Folklore, recorded in secret in quarantine and announced just hours before its release, has sold over 1.3 million copies worldwide in just one day. There was also no announced single. On November 25, 2020, Disney+ unveiled a concert documentary called Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions. It describes in detail the creative process of creating Folklore with the performance of all the compositions. At the end of 2020, it is the best-selling album, receiving, among other things, five out of six nominations at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards.
