Titans of Creation is the thirteenth studio album by American thrash metal band Testament, released on April 3, 2020 via Nuclear Blast Records. It became a logical continuation of the previous album Brotherhood of the Snake (2017), and the first after The Ritual (1992) recorded by the previous lineup. The opening song Children of the Next Level sets the pace with repetitive riffs, fiery solos and catchy melodies. It tells the story of the Heavenly Gate cult that ended tragically in the San Diego suburbs in 1997. Another dark theme is tackled in the downtemp City of Angels with chuck Billy's eerie melodic vocals and tells the story of a 1980s serial killer known as the Night Stalker. One of the most unique tracks is Night of the Witch. In addition to the usual thrash riff and the frontman's roar, Eric Peterson's black metal vocals are added. Dream Deceiver is an old school classic, while Symptoms, written by Alex Skolnick, deals with mental disorders and contains some of the most challenging and impressive guitar riffs on the album. Testament may be veterans, but in Titans Of Creation, they sound like a young and determined group of like-minded people on an honorable mission.
