The Weeknd – Dawn FM [2022]

The Weeknd Dawn FM Track List

Dawn FM is the fifth studio album by Canadian singer The Weeknd, released on January 7, 2022 via XO and Republic Records. On the same day, in conjunction with the release of Dawn FM, The Weeknd aired live on Amazon Music where he performed as a disc jockey and played the entire album in front of a small audience. The event was broadcast live on Twitch. The musician announced the work on the new album in May 2021 during an interview with the leading American weekly Variety, which covers events in the world of show business. At the very beginning of 2022, on January 1, the singer stated in his post on Instagram – "Everything seems chaotic again, only music can heal, and this seems more important than releasing another album." On January 3, he revealed the official title of the album and announced a release date. And two days later the track list was also revealed. According to The Weeknd itself, the album is a direct sequel to After Hours (2020). The conceptually new work is made as a psychedelic radio show with existential themes, hence its name – Dawn FM, where American actor Jim Carrey acts as an announcer. Everything is conceived as if the listener was dead and fell into purgatory, where he was stuck in the hope of seeing a ray of hope at the end of the tunnel. And while this wait lasts, there is a broadcast in the car, and the presenter accompanies you to the light, helping you to cross to the other side. In addition to The Weeknd itself, the album was produced by Max Martin, Oneohtrix Point Never, Oscar Holter, Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia and several other celebrities. The cover of Dawn FM, done by Robert Beatty, features The Weeknd, aged and bearded, in total darkness. A small ray of light falls on his shoulder, symbolizing the transition from life to death.
